Knuckletown Rankings: A Transparent Look into Our Ranking Process

At Knuckletown Rankings, our mission is to bring clarity and fairness to the world of bare-knuckle fighting. As the sport continues to grow in popularity, the need for an unbiased and accurate ranking system becomes ever more important. To ensure that our rankings are both accurate and free from bias, we’ve devised a two-step approach. Here’s an inside look at our process:

1. The Algorithm: Our Baseline Our ranking begins with a data-driven algorithm. This algorithm analyzes fight data to produce an initial ranking of fighters. It considers numerous factors from the fights, ensuring that it captures the fighter’s performance comprehensively.

The algorithm is our baseline. It’s not influenced by opinions, emotions, or external pressures. It simply takes the data and produces a ranking. This provides a strong foundation upon which we build our final rankings.

2. The Human Committee: Capturing the Nuances Recognizing that data alone can’t capture the full nuances of a fighter’s skill, we have a committee of experts who review the algorithm’s rankings. This committee doesn’t just rubber-stamp the algorithm’s results. They critically evaluate them, adding a layer of human judgment to the process.

But here’s where we go the extra mile for transparency and fairness:

  • No Ties Allowed: Members of our committee cannot have any connection to the organization, manage fighters, or have financial ties with fighters. We’ve put this rule in place to prevent even the perception of bias. However while committee members typically must not accept gifts or favors, exceptions are made for standard travel accommodations, promotional merchandise, and regular event tickets provided by promotions for specific events. Such benefits must not influence rankings or decisions.
  • Conflict of Interest: Should a committee member have a potential bias towards a particular fighter, they are asked to abstain from the vote for that fighter. This ensures that every vote is as impartial as possible.

Once the committee reviews and discusses the rankings, they vote on the final list. Any necessary adjustments are made based on this vote, ensuring our rankings are both data-driven and expert-reviewed.

Conclusion

Transparency is at the heart of what we do at Knuckletown Rankings. We believe that by being open about our process, fans, fighters, and stakeholders can trust that our rankings are fair, accurate, and unbiased. We’re dedicated to continuously improving and refining our system, ensuring that as the world of bare-knuckle fighting evolves, so too do our rankings.
