A Bare-Knuckle Revolution: An Interview with Greg Bloom, CEO of BYB Extreme

Greg Bloom CEO of BYB Extreme

In the heart of the ever-evolving world of combat sports, bare-knuckle boxing has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Among those leading this electrifying revolution is Greg Bloom, the CEO of BYB Extreme Fighting Series. With a passion for combat sports coursing through his veins, Greg has embarked on a journey that’s helping redefine the landscape of bare-knuckle boxing.

Greg’s initial foray into combat sports was fueled by a lifelong passion for the discipline. He elaborates, saying, “I’ve been a fan of all combat sports since I was a kid, and so it was always an industry that I wanted to be involved with.”

Years of experience as a sports and entertainment attorney with a focus on boxing and MMA prepared him for the transition to the world of bare-knuckle boxing. “I was working as a sports and entertainment attorney with a focus on boxing and MMA when I was introduced to Mike Vazquez, who hired me to be the attorney for BYB Extreme before offering me the position of CEO two years later,” Greg recalls.

Taking the reins as CEO, Greg now oversees the day-to-day operations of BYB Extreme. His wealth of experience and in-depth understanding of the combat sports industry positions him as a key figure in shaping the future of bare-knuckle boxing. As he puts it, “I am the CEO of BYB Extreme and I handle all day-to-day operations for the company.”

The allure of bare-knuckle boxing lies in its raw and unadulterated nature. Fighters, stripped of gloves, engage in battles of resilience and willpower. In Greg’s view, the next five years hold the promise of growth and expansion, “I believe that in the next 5 years, bare-knuckle boxing will be the biggest combat sport in the world.”

With the sport’s growth come unique challenges, but Greg is poised to face them head-on. His vision for BYB Extreme focuses on promoting the sport as a legitimate combat sport with trained athletes, setting it apart from promotions that resort to celebrity influencers and untrained fighters. He emphasizes, “BYB is working hard to showcase this new, exciting combat sport to the masses without turning it into a circus like some other promotions do.”

As for the future of BYB Extreme, Greg hints at exciting initiatives that will further elevate the sport. “BYB is working on a number of different, exciting initiatives as we move forward,” he teases. With a focus on showcasing the sport to a global audience, the possibilities are endless. Their approach prioritizes the safety and well-being of athletes, with a close partnership with state athletic commissions and continuous education of referees and judges.

Reflecting on his journey and the sport’s evolution, Greg Bloom is committed to steering BYB Extreme to the summit of the combat sports world. “I wake up every day ready to work. I am constantly motivated to continue to not only grow BYB into the #1 promotion in the bare-knuckle space but to grow bare-knuckle boxing into the #1 combat sport on the planet,” he declares.

Greg’s story in the combat sports world is far from finished. As the sport of bare-knuckle boxing continues to captivate a global audience, he stands at the forefront, ready to lead BYB Extreme to the pinnacle. The world of bare-knuckle boxing holds its breath, knowing that its future is in the capable hands of a visionary like Greg Bloom.
